Gia Mugford

Gia Mugford received a Masters in Architecture from the UW in 2009.  While at the IDL she performed daylighting studies using both physical daylighting models and simulated models with Ecotect and Radiance. She also explored energy modeling for buildings with Ecotect, and conducted studies of electric lighting use patterns to evaluate hospital lighting energy use. Gia cataloged the lab's Materials Library, gaining expertise in glazing and shading material properties. She completed a work-study internship at Environmental Works this winter, as well as a thesis entitled Participatory Infrastructure: A Homeless Hygiene Center and Stormwater Reservoir Facility in Belltown, Seattle. Gia grew up in the rural west and has lived in Seattle for 15 years. She loves Seattle's live music, arts, many parks and its fabulous library system.
