50 to 50

As part of its advocacy for sustainable building the American Institute of Architects (AIA) has created 50to50, a resource that provides information on 50 design strategies for saving energy. This information is intended to help designers reach the Architecture 2030 challenge of reducing new building energy use by 50%, today.

The Integrated Design Lab is working with AIA Seattle to produce a 10-session series of workshops that will cover the material described in 50to50. Practicing professionals as well as researchers in the field will lead the sessions. Case studies from the Pacific Northwest will be presented, illustrating the adaptation of specific energy-saving strategies to our climate. This series is a national pilot program endorsed by Architecture 2030.
